This Saturday Cary and I were still feeling a little sniffly, so we held off on winter sports-tivities, and opted to do some cross country flying instead. It's only 2 hours by air to our favorite summer surf spot, Manzanita, so we flew down for some lunch at Bread and Ocean and a walk along the beach. On our way down, it was super cool to see aerial views of Oswald west, Canon Beach, and many of the other spots we've road tripped to.
There's a campground at the Manzanita airport that's just for pilots (and people who flew in with those pilots) , I would love to come back sometime and spend more time adventuring from there. It wasn't super full when we stopped by (no campers in sight) but I wonder if it's more full later in the season. Totally walkable from the camp area to the beach (15 minutes tops), but it might be a little far to comfortably carry a surf board.
