This weekend we were hoping to do our first backpacking outing of the season. We'd read a little bit about the "Iron Peak Loop", but there's not many details on WTA about it, so we were kind of making it up as we went. Views from the top of Iron Peak were AWESOME, and the surrounding basins below the peak were quite pretty as well. We ended up doing a weird loop route, involving 6 miles on the forest service road between the Iron Peak trailhead and the Beverly Creek trailhead. Since there were no awesome places to camp, we did the whole thing in a day... not something I would repeat!
15 miles, 3100 ft of gain, with packs fully loaded, yiiiiipes. But hey, it's a good way to get in shape for the rest of the season right?
