While up in Bellingham this weekend for a friend's wedding, we decided to take advantage of our Friday without work by doing my first glaciated summit: Ruth Mountain. I'd practiced a bit of crevasse rescue and rope travel a few winters ago, but it was nice to have a refresher on a low key peak like this. Definitely near my limits in terms of distance + elevation for a day trip, clocking in at just over 12 miles and 4,000 ft of gain. We almost turned around when we got to the ridge line, since the snow was getting pretty slushy and it was only noon, but I'm glad we stuck with it. Views from the summit were AWESOME, and snow conditions held up pretty well for the rest of the day.
