Tried out a new part of Exit 38 on Sunday. We recently got a new guide book that includes lots of areas we haven’t tried out, including Mt. Washington. This name is super popular, making it hard to search for, since there are so many places with the same name (even within Washington state there are at least 2), but it’s one of the more picturesque parts of Exit 38 if you can find your way there.
The approach to this area is steep and long… not sure why Cary and I picked this one, especially the day after hiking 4000 ft of gain at Dickerman, but we’re certainly feeling in shape after the combined elevation from the weekend.
Conditions were SOOOO COLD on Sunday (the weird faces we’re making above are because we’re freezing). Probably the last time we try and climb outdoors in November. Cary said he probably could have ice climbed from the last bolt to the chains, and had to break the anchor chains out of the ice to clip in :O
