For Christmas this year, Cary and I experimented with not flying back to the east coast, and planned a local getaway instead. Calling Revelstoke “local” is a bit of a stretch… but it ranks very high on the “driving distance vs. snow quality” equation. Out of all the places we visited last year during our Powder Highway tour, Revelstoke was one of our favorites. Lots of great skiing to be had, in the resort or Rogers Pass, and the town is full of cute spots to eat.
Visiting during early winter was a bit different than last time (deep winter during one of the snowiest years yet), and there actually wasn’t any snow in town when we first arrived on Saturday. Plenty of snow high up on the resort, but definitely a different vibe in town walking through snowless streets as we picked a spot for dinner. As we walked into the Village Idiot, it started snowing, and didn’t stop for the next 3 days!!
We had a magical mix of sun and snow on Christmas day, and thoroughly enjoyed the mostly empty resort :)
