Our road trip out to La Push to document salmon habitats for the Wild Salmon Center continued with some exploring around the Sol Duc Valley. According to the population charts from the center it's the beginning of the spring salmon season on the Olympic Peninsula, so we headed to the Salmon Cascades to see if we could spot any salmon mid-leap.
No salmon were spotted during our 2 days in the valley, but we did see lots of pretty river views, mossy trees, and found a fabulous camp spot long Lake Crescent. We also got to do some scouting of the trailhead for Seven Lakes Basin, one of the trails that's been on our list for years now. Nice to be able to check things out without time pressure, since we'll need to be pretty speedy to try fitting that one into a weekend.
