Most of Washington was forecasted to have rainy weather this weekend, so we chased the sun south to the Washington/Oregon border for some skiing on Mount Adams. Best done as a multi-day trip to allow for the 4 hour drive, it's been quite a few years since we were down that way.
Instead of hiking the almost 7000 ft of gain in mountaineering boots like we did last time, we opted for skis. Might as well take advantage of all that up with a fun way down right? Unfortunately, we missed the primo spring conditions by a few weeks, and the huge suncups made things pretty challenging. Slippery on the way up and super bumpy on the way down, almost like skiing on a giant golf ball!
We did get an amazing camp spot, right by a little mountain stream with great views of the sunset behind the mountain. Crazy clouds kept rolling all around the mountain, moving below and beside us, but never closed in on us. What good luck!
