It's been a few years since Cary and I did our first kayak camping trip to the San Juans, but we had so much fun last time we figured it was about time to go on another trip. We invited a few pals this time, and since Cary and I had already done an overnight with Crystal Seas guides, they planned a new trip for us to a totally different island.
What an awesome camp spot! Jones Island is pretty small, so we hiked along the whole coast before dinner. Lots of wildlife to see during the journey: seals, eagles, starfish, sea slugs, and even some bioluminescent phosphorus at night!
The paddle back from the island was pretty exciting. At one point, we crossed through a 5 knot current that had created some standing waves. I was in the front, so it basically felt like being on a log flume, a little scary but mostly really fun :)
