This weekend to celebrate Cary's birthday we headed north to the gorgeous town of Squamish for a multi-sport weekend.
We did some sport climbing a little bit north of the town at Area 44, and found some shady spots ideal for the 90 degree heat. My favorite spot was The Distillery, which was full of short but challenging, boudlering-ish routes and gorgeous mossy scenery. Felt a little bit like climbing in a Disney movie :)
At night we had delicious beers and foods (POUTINE, YUMMM) at Howe Sound Brewery, and explored the little trail that starts by the brewery and wraps all around the waterfront. The views of the sound around sunset were so amazing, didn't have my camera, but lots of mental pictures of purple mountains on turquoise waters.
Randomly this weekend happened to be the annual logger sports festival, where lumberjacks and logging enthusiasts from all over the world come to compete in log-related sports. On Sunday we watched the "open category" events for log rolling, tree climbing, and axe throwing, so intense!
