This weekend I flew up to Alaska for the first time ever… what an AMAZING adventure, just a short flight away!! One of my backcountry ski pals invited me to join her and 3 other ladies on a guided trip just south of Anchorage, and despite a super packed month of work and travel, I’m so so sooo glad I said yes.
We stayed in the awesome little town of Girdwood, which is big enough to have delicious brews and food, but small enough that we saw moose just outside of town every morning. Since we flew Alaska Air, we got to ski free at Alyeska the day we arrived, conveniently located 3 minutes from “uptown Girdwood”.
The next 2 days we toured in Turnagain Pass, with our fabulous guides Nick and Nikki. Our main tour goals were sun, fun, and views, so we spent most of our time gaining vertical and soaking in the majesty. The pictures don’t even come close to the feeling of being surrounded by steep, snowy spines on all sides... but luckily we ran into a guy with a drone who took some footage of us hanging out on top :)
