For our second day of biking near Roslyn, we went around to the next valley and explored some of the crazy rock formations we could see from the top of our Saturday ride. Slightly less mileage than Saturday, but in 95 degree heat this ride was a serious workout!
Heart rates were up from the heat, and also the possibility of bears popping out of the woods… We passed quite a few bear tracks along the ride, and a set of hikers who had seen a bear about a mile before they passed us, but luckily never saw bears. I’m definitely buying a bear bell before our next ride, singing and loud talking while you’re trying to pedal up hills is a LOT of work!
This ride was an interesting mix of slabby rock (sandstone maybe?), low grass, and deep sand. On the downhills, drifting through the sand felt almost like skiing, a little out of control but super fun!
